On February 8, 2007 Daniel Ian Tieger was born still. Just 24 hours before, he was a perfectly healthy 8 pound 10 ounce beautiful baby boy, due to be born in just seven days. After 9 long months and an even longer 36 hours of labor, we were finally able to hold our son who was so wanted, so needed, and will be so missed. We only got to spend a few short hours with him. During that time, we were able to bond with him until they had to take him from us. He will live in our hearts forever.

No family should ever have to endure the pain of losing a child. Over 120,000 children die every year in this country. Nearly 80% of those will die before their first birthday. Almost 30,000 babies will be born without ever taking even one breath.

Stillbirth affects 83 families every day in the United States. More than half of those cases will go forever unexplained. Currently there is limited federal funding toward research to determine the possible warning signs and causes of these tragedies.

How Your Contributions Help

We created Daniel’s STAR to help prevent as many future stillbirths as possible through medical advances and public education. The money raised by Daniel’s STAR will go to the MISS Foundation to fund their programs geared toward stillbirth research and awareness.

The MISS Foundation is a 501 (c) 3, volunteer based organization committed to providing crisis support and long term aid to families after the death of a child from any cause. MISS Foundation also participates in legislative and advocacy issues, community engagement and volunteerism, and culturally competent, multidisciplinary, education opportunities.
